White House Planning International Cybercrime Meeting

Thirty countries have been invited to participate.

National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said President Biden’s administration plans to bring together some 30 countries later this month for an online session to coordinate efforts to deal with the growing threat of ransomware and other cybercrime. “Cyber threats affect the lives and livelihoods of American families and businesses,” he stated during a briefing.

The meetings, which will be held virtually, were arranged in the wake of a growing number of ransomware attacks on critical U.S. infrastructure firms, such as the one that shut down the Colonial Pipeline for days earlier this year.

The U.S. has already begun taking action. Last week, the Treasury Department announced new actions to combat cybercriminals that employ ransomware to take companies hostage.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For U.S. officials as they prepare for the virtual meetings on cyber security.
  • For wisdom for leaders in the U.S. and countries worldwide as they seek to protect their economies and national security from risks created by cybercrime.
  • For intelligence agencies and others working to expose and disrupt the illicit infrastructure used in cyberattacks.
